Fast forward to two months later, and Rose BC not only finished second in the Unrivaled standings with an 8-6 record, but they also ended up becoming the first-ever Unrivaled champions.

So, following the team’s 62-54 victory in the Unrivaled finals on Monday, Reese couldn’t help but be proud of her teammates. She also made sure to remind ESPN how they were placed at the bottom of its ranking before the tournament even started.

“LOVE MY ROSEBUDS!” Reese wrote on her Instagram Stories, which also showed Rose BC’s ESPN ranking in an earlier post. “THEY RANKED US LAST! GOD HAD ALWAYS THE FINAL SAY!”

Rose BC actually started with a 1-4 record and appeared to be the problematic team that ESPN predicted them to be. Nonetheless, they eventually turned things around and won five straight to get back to postseason contention.

Reese, for her part, was sensational alongside eventual Finals MVP Chelsea Gray. During the regular season, the Chicago Sky star averaged 13.3 points and 12.1 rebounds en route to winning Second Team honors and Defensive Player of the Year.
